General Information
Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre is located about 25km west of Sandakan in Sabah, Malaysia. The centre opened in 1964 as the first official orang utan rehabilitation project for rescued orphaned baby orangutans from logging sites, plantations, illegal hunting or kept as pets. The orphaned orang utans are trained to survive again in the wild and are released as soon as they are ready. The sanctuary is located within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve which covers an area of 4,294 ha (10,610 acres), much of which is virgin rainforest. Today around 60 to 80 orang utans are living in this reserve.
Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) is the only sun bear conservation centre in the world. It was founded in Sabah, Malaysia in 2008 with two aims to provide care and rehabilitation to rescued sun bears; and to increase awareness of sun bears internationally. These aims work to ensure the absolute right of every bear to live in the forest. The facility includes large forest enclosures to provide a natural environment suited to the needs and welfare of the sun bears and facilitate their rehabilitation back into the wild. In 2014, the Centre opens to the public. Visitors can learn about sun bears and observe them in their natural habitat.

Meet on upon arrival at SDK airport or pick up from respective hotels in Sandakan. Then, proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre.

Arrive Sepilok
Watching one of the nature’s most endangered animal species, the ‘Orang Utan’ or ‘Man of the Jungle’, in local language swing from branches to branches towards to the feeding station in the forest. Watch the scheduled video show programmes (25 mins), visit to the Exhibition Hall.

After Sepilok
Proceed to the nearby Sun Bear Conservation Center to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural environment.

Lunch on the way. Then, depart to Bilit, Kinabatangan River. The land journey takes about 2½hrs drive.

Arrive at Bilit, check in to your accommodation.

Have an afternoon tea with some local bites and a short briefing by the nature guide.

Take an afternoon cruise along the Kinabatangan River (Sabah’s longest river at 560km) where you can observe wildlife on the boat itself.

Wake up to the calls of gibbons & birds and start the day with an early river cruise.

Proceed back to Bilit Lodge for breakfast.

Depart from Bilit, return to Sandakan for lunch.

Depart for Sandakan Nature City Tour. The City Tour includes a visit to Sandakan Memorial Park, Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, located on a steep hill top where you can have a magnificent view overlooking Sandakan Bay & Town Centre.

Continue to one of the oldest church in Sabah, St. Michael’s Church where you can see a century old building where Christianity is preached.

Drive to the Central Market where you can see the local produce and fresh seafood being sold.

Visit to the Agnes Keith Museum to learn about the life in the colonial days on Agnes & Harry Keith.

Final stop at the nearby English Tea House where you may have another spectacular view of Sandakan Nature City. Here, you may have your own choices of refreshment (own account).

Should you wish to cancel your booking once it has been confirmed, we will collect 10% of tour fee as administrative fee; cancellation less than 7days will deduct 50% of tour fee; cancellation less than 3 days full cancellation charged. If the product relate with 3rd party service (Air Ticket, Accommodation, Mount Climbing & etc) will require to refer back to 3rd party Terms & Conditions & the company will still collect an extra 10% of tour fee as administrative fee.
