General Information
Loagan Bunut which centers around Sarawak’s Largest natural lake, is the one of the most unusual aquatic ecosystems in Malaysia. The lake normally covers an area of approximately 65 hectares. However when the water level in the adjacent Tnjar river is low, the shallow lake can drain completely, leaving a huge expanse of dried and cracked mud.
When in season, you have a chance to observe the unique 'Selambau' fishing technique by the Berawan tribe. The Begawan fishermen are locals who developed this fishing technique, whereby they use huge scoop nets to catch the migrating fish found in the lake. These nets will be mounted on huge rafts, which will be positioned in the direction of the water flow. Hence, fishes will literally be scooped out of the water as they enter and leave the lake.

Meet at hotel lobby and proceed for trip to Loagan Bunut National Park, that takes about two and a half hours from Miri City.

Upon arrival at Loagan Bunut National Park, we take a boat trip to explore the lake and the surrounding forest to appreciate the magnificent scenery. The narrow longboats can penetrate some distance into the forest, offering an excellent closeup view of huge stilted tree roots and the chance to see monkeys and squirrels. Witness The Selambau scoop nets that are one of Loagan Bunut’s most fascinating attractions, which can also be visited during the boat ride.

During the fish migration periods you may watch the local fishermen at work. At other times of the year you are likely to see local fishermen using more conventional fishing methods, such as casting nets and pole nets, to harvest the lake’s abundant supply of fish.

Our visit also include the ancient Berawan burial platform, or Klirieng, which rears out of the waters of the lake, supported by two mighty Borneo ironwood columns.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Should you wish to cancel your booking once it has been confirmed, we will collect 10% of tour fee as administrative fee; cancellation less than 7days will deduct 50% of tour fee; cancellation less than 3 days full cancellation charged. If the product relate with 3rd party service (Air Ticket, Accommodation, Mount Climbing & etc) will require to refer back to 3rd party Terms & Conditions & the company will still collect an extra 10% of tour fee as administrative fee.
Tour Type
Sit-In-Coach basis (SIC). This tour is not private tour, you will share the trip with other guests come from different countries. Please notify us upon booking if you are looking for private tour, surcharge might be applied.
Pickup Service
Pickup service will be provided from the hotel/hostel/lodge that you are staying. Please wait at lobby while the tour guide will find you when he/she arrive. Dropoff service will be provided after travelling, please notify us upon booking if your dropoff location is differ from pickup location.
